Now a fire is causing evacuations in Temecula (per CHP). I know Temecula quite well and am up there a lot, but I can't place where it exactly is based on the cross streets...
It is going to be a VERY long fire season :-(
Yes, the TV said one started in Riverside county around 2:30 but I didn't get any more than that. Must be the same thing? If I hear where it is I'll ping you. I can't listen to any scanner traffic from down there.
CDF spokeswoman Karen something said, a few days ago, the fire season is ordinarily not nearly as active this early, and that 'the worst is most certainly ahead of us'.
Whoo my whole house smells acrid. Yuck.
Regarding the Temecula area:
That fire is in Sage, which is between Temecula and Hemet, and has consumed up to 2000 acres with no estimate on containment at this point.
My husband is on the Pine fire after being released from the Verbenia fire and my son was released from another incident and diverted to the Sage fire. From my vantage point, which is to the east of the burn, it looks like hell itself with what appears to be a 10 mile front.
Last year, this was the approximate area of the Mountain fire that chewed Sage up and consumed numerous residences. You will be able to get more informaiton on the fires by going to the USFS Fire News website and checking into the SIT report.

I was at work this evening with a view of the southwest mountain range........which is so full of smoke you can't see them.
Must be Temecula, again!! They went through hell last year.
We have smoke coming in from the west as well. Are there only two fires burning?
