There is a large fire in the Santa Clarita Area of Los Angeles County....if you are in SoCal, that is the very large smoke clouds to the north.
Ribbonwood Fire in East San Diego County
Thanks for the update. Haven't been able to catch the news this morning so came here hoping someone had an update.
I just checked the CHP site and there seems to be 2 fire reports coming out of Oceanside, along the I-5. I do not know this area well enough to know if they could perhaps be the same fire.
We're staying really watchful over on our side of the hill, I know you are doing the same. Stay safe!
I saw that CHP entry. One caller faded out. When you see fire calls on the CHP cad, they tend to be small, usually someone tossing their cigarette out the window and into the shoulder of the freeway. It is when the number of lines on the CAD entry starts increasing (and of course, you see a huge smoke cloud) that you need to really worry.
The entry is gone now. Hallelujah!
Oh definately! When you see that huge smoke cloud, there is no doubt what's up.
btw... shouted out to you as we zoomed past on the I-5 yesterday : ) Right after that was when I spotted the smoke cloud and started worrying.
Stay safe!
That terrain is so similar to where we live in East County. Although perhaps, prettier.
Son and his fiancee were back at their townhouse, by that art school in Valencia. (can't think of the name) My son said they had a lot of ash to clean up but that the fire was quite a ways from them now.
I still pray for anyone who might be in the path though. Horrible things, these wildfires.
Masters College? No that is a bible school. CalArts!
That's it. Cal Arts.
I have the "momssonisgettingmarriednextweekend" mental block going on right now : )
I can see it all as I sit here. The fire is directly in front of me. I live in Valencia. I'm watching the trees and it seems the wind has picked up quite a bit in the last few hours.
Last night TV news said investigators have the Sage fire cause already: a man out in the desert who was practicing shooting.
Can see smoke from that fire (1-8 one) and smoke from what I'm guessing is the Temecula area one (based on where I am and where I know it is...)...thankfully it appears to be mostly white smoke (at least from this distance). I'm off 15 in SD North County.
