Why should Germans get compensation from Poland? They should get their property back from the individual Poles that now occupy the property. Peoperty rights are not communal rights except in the United States and other socialist countries.

Go back a thousand years in history, and the Polish broders have moved several times. That was primarily due to the lack of natural dividers between Poland and the surrounding countries.

I'm Polish on both sides, and my wife is part German.

Huh? Poland occupies Germany? That's a very Palestinian way of thinking. The Polish people and government owe the Germans nothing.

I was wondering if you were on the computer when I saw this.
The Germans have some kind of nerve.....

Dear, it's just like here. We have weasels right here that hate their own Country, America. They want it to be just like the EU.
Our ACLU is right there at the top with the DimRat party.
Social-Communist right down to their very souls!

Yuck!!!

Who had the title to the property when the property was taken with out compensation? That is the rightful owner since Moses came down from the Mount. Who took the property without compensation? That man or government is a thief, it was stolen. I don't know the details or chain of title. I'm not a Palestinian view holder. I am a property rights view holder, thank you. Property rights are a god-given natural right, that's good enough for me.

Can the Germans be that stupid??

Are they also going to send Israel an overdue unpaid gas bill for usage during the years 1933-1945?

Germans should pay Poland recompense for WWII, Poland was the most devastated country after the war and gets nothing for that. I’m truly mad when I heard that they want something, they may pay Poland recompense for 1000 years of wars which were always started by them.
This situation remind me old slogan "One bullet, one German"

In WWII Germany killed 5 million Poles. Instead of killing Germans the Poles took about 10% of German territory and setteled refugees there. That sounds like a fair solution. The Germans should quit complaining and be thankfull that millions more of them did not die.

Well, let´s not forget THAT up to two millions of Germans died AFTER the war, thanks to Russians, Poles and Czechs... that does not sound like a fair solution.

And let us also not forget that this "article" from Asia misrepresents the current relations between Germany and Poland. There are no claims for land by German politicians, and the new Federal President of Germany Mr. Köhler has chosen Poland as his first foreign destination - instead of France, like the former Presidents. Mr. Köhler was born in then-Germany, now Poland, and has visited his birthplace, among other places like Warsaw or Gdansk this week. He also confirmed that Germany does not wish to extent its territory.

Also a fact. People often forget that the Nazi Germans and the COmmunist Russians invaded Poland at almost the same time.

Dismemberment of Poland

Under the terms of two decrees by Hitler (8 October and 12 October 1939), large areas of western Poland were annexed to Germany. These included all the territories which Germany had lost under the 1918 Treaty of Versailles, such the Polish Corridor, West Prussia and Upper Silesia, but also a large area of indisputably Polish territory east of these territories, including the city of Lodz.

{snip}

The area of these annexed territories was 94,000 square kilometres and the population was about 10 million, the great majority of whom were Poles.

Under the terms of the Nazi-Soviet pact, adjusted by agreement on 28 September 1939, the Soviet Union, annexed all Polish territory east of the line of the rivers Pisa, Narew, Bug and San, except for the area around Wilno (Vilnius), which was given to Lithuania, and the Suwalki region, which was annexed by Germany. These territories were largely inhabited by Ukrainians and Byelorussians, with minorities of Poles and Jews. The total area, including the area given to Lithuania, was 201,000 square kilometres, with a population of 13.5 million. A small strip of land that was part of Hungary before 1914, was also given to Slovakia.

The Communists moved the Polishj borders west on both sides of the country through annexations from Germany AND annexations from Poland.
