Andy, There are procedures to get your medals from the Navy, but it would require alot of hoop jumping. A couple of years ago the Navy Exchange Uniform shops started carrying large medals.
The easiest thing to do would be to have an active duty Sailor or retiree buy the medals for you.

Thanks for the info though. I do know a few guys still on active duty. I'll have to see if they can get them for me. I would have bought them when I was in, but I never saw those medals available in the Exchange.

why not send your papers or ask for them from the St Louis address----check the Navy Dept---I got all my WW2 medals this way but can't find the addresses--sorry
