I am glad Mister Cain is supporting the Fair Tax. Mac Collins has cosponsored the bill along with Congressman John Linder for the last seven years. Cain talks...while Mac is a doer. Mac Collins has the experience and is the only conservative in the Senate race. Bush signed several of Mac's tax bills into law. Cain doesn't have the experience to be Senator...By the way, Mac Collins built up a business from scratch. Herman Cain did not!!!

Unlike you I don't get emails from anyone... That's why the right choice is COllins.

You don't get emails from anyone, so it must follow that the right choice is Collins?

Hmmm...

So, please write out the whole name and party for us in other states. For example, when I write about my Senators: Senator John Warner (R-VA) and Senator George Allen (R-VA), or Congressman, Representative Virgil Goode (R-VA 5th dist.), I write them out for those in other states not familiar with Virginia.

I don't know how to do this, as my congressman is Chris Shays, who supposedly is an "R" but I don't know why.

Well then, you might then do what I have always done when referring to Congress[persons] like Senator Olympia Snowe or Senator Susan Collins or Senator Lincoln Chaffee et.al., you can write: Senator John Warner (RINO-VA) [Republican In Name Only] or Senator Arlen Specter (LIRD-PA) [Liberal In Republican Disguise].

Perhaps, that helps?

great to hear that. I'm from Alabama, and I'd love to see Cain win.

Hello everyone. I live in Louisiana and am more focused on our races here, but this Georgia Senate race is quite interesting.

There seems to be a lot of talk here about credentials but not a lot to back it up. Here is an excerpt from an NRO article I read this morning that got me looking for more information on the GA Senate race (which is how I ended up in this thread):

"Cain is staunchly conservative. An entrepreneur from Atlanta who grew up the son of a Coke executive's chauffer, Cain raised himself from poverty in the civil-rights-era south to become one of the most successful African-American businessmen in the region; and his politics reflect both his entrepreneurial spirit and his deeply religious past. Cain is adamantly pro-life. He is anti-affirmative action. He stood against an extension of prescription-drug benefits, noting that the benefit was bound "to become another massive entitlement program that is destined to fail and burden the next generation;" and he has stated his dedication to the Second Amendment, to Social Security reform, and to abolishing the current tax code. . . Finally, Cain has the experience and the know-how to rule a Senate roost. A former chair of the Federal Reserve Bank in Kansas City, he was a senior adviser to the Dole/Kemp campaign in 1996, and he was a member of the National Commission on Economic Growth and Tax Reform."

I haven't seen any such articles on Mr. Cain's opponents, so if you all have any, post them here.

Again, you fail to grasp the crux of the issue. Consumption taxes work based on what people spend HERE in this country. Saying that illegals send half their money to Mexico (aside from begin an unverifiable blanket statement) completely misses the point.

So, are you saying we SHOULDN'T have a system to force illegals to come forward and register? Your response doesn't make a lick of sense.

Why not? Would you rather have them running around here without being registered?

I'm sure that I did not adequately convey Mr. Cain's exact words, but I can't see why you would find his position objectionable. Unless, of course, you're an illegal alien...

Aha, now that I read your reply again I see what you're trying to say. Let me explain:

When one says "illegal alien," the inherent supposition is that the person is in our country illegally. The people still in Mexico are not, by definition, illegal aliens, since they are not here, they are in Mexico.

The question posed addressed illegal aliens, that is, people who are already illegally here in the US, not in Mexico. The question was not, as your response presumes, "How do we reduce the number of immigrants to this country?"

However, my take was that Cain wants to make it harder to get in this country. An enforceable system of registration would help with that, too.
