(FUQUAY-VARINA) -- The News and Observer of Raleigh reports that the younger brother of Democratic vice presidential nominee John Edwards is wanted in Colorado for failing to appear on a drunken-driving charge from 1994.
State records in Colorado show that Wesley Blake Edwards was supposed to report to court in January 1994. When he didn't, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
The newspaper reports that Wesley Blake Edwards, a union electrician who lives in Fuquay-Varina, was charged with driving under the influence, careless driving and operating a vehicle without insurance.
State Division of Motor Vehicle records show that, after misdemeanor drunken-driving convictions in 1985, 1987 and 1990, his driver license was permanently revoked in 1990. Records show he spent a week in jail on one of the convictions.
Wesley Blake Edwards has been cited for driving without a license at least twice since, most recently in Fuquay-Varina in August. He pleaded guilty and paid a $100 fine.
Have they checked Wendy's?
Neener, neener, neener.
OMG This is going to be all over the mainstream media!!!
The guy ought to try and find a good lawyer. Do you think he knows any? :-)
Wesley Blake Edwards
Hey, don't be harsh.
His films are good.
Pink Panther, The (2005)
Victor/Victoria (1995)
"Pink Panther, The" (1993) ....
When you're arrested, don't they run a check for outstanding warrants and keep you detained for those local authorities to pick you up?
OOps.... wonder if this one slipped through the screening process?
It sounds like he was arrested a couple of times in North Carolina, and I'm guessing that a certain trial lawyer kept the authorities from contacting Colorado.
Don't know if they checked Wendy's, maybe they should ask Teddy Kennedy who his designated driver has been lately.
That's exactly why it comes out on a friday afternoon in the summer. That way, all thoses hordes of people sitting at home (and not on the beach or off camping) on a sunny friday afternoon will see it and talk about it at work tomorrow.
Hummmm veeeeery interesting
Family. Everybody who gets to run for high office in this country seems to have a black sheep brother.
Warrants can be for a limited geographic area. When I worked for the local PD over 10 years ago, I'd see warrants for within the county only, for adjacent counties only, statewide, for adjacent states, and nationwide. Colorado isn't going to see extradition from North Carolina for a warrant for Failure to Appear.
This is completely irrelevant, though. The character of his brother has nothing to do with Edwards's qualifications (or, more accurately, lack of qualifications) to serve as VP.
This isn't really news, is it?
I don't disagree. I was just commenting on the timing in the news cycle. This has very little to do with edwards lack of competence for the job.
Doubtful
"Fuquay-Varina? Is that in Africa or France?"
Neither! It's the best-named town in North Carolina!
