SACRAMENTO Budget negotiations disintegrated Thursday as Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced he was casting out the past two months of deals and starting from scratch with the budget he proposed in May.
The turnaround comes two weeks after the governor and legislators said they were closing in on a "handshake deal."
"There's no budget. There is only our May Revise," Schwarzenegger said at an impromptu news conference, where he declared himself a "warrior" and vowed to negotiate until 2006 to get the budget he wants.
His statement followed increasingly bitter rhetoric from both Democrats and Republicans, who are blaming one another for a budget that is now 16 days late.

Just like old times. ;-)
Hopefully, Arnie has learned you can't "negotiate" with the Socialist Democrats in Sacramento.
"Governor, we have Tom McClintock on the line with a 13% Solution to balance the budget without raising taxes and/or fees!"
GovRino runs into a road block. Very troubling. Seems like Arnie can't even convince his fellow liberals to trust in him.

Thank you for once again pointing out the obvious.
Never negotiate with evil - kill it.
Earth to Arnold: Don't EVER shake hands with Rats.
Time for Arnold to bring McClintock into the budget-negotiations fold. Arnold almost got fooled into a mediocre-at-best budget, and only because the Dems got EVEN GREEDIER does he now have a chance to start over. He needs to move more towards McClintock this time, and be much readier to Go To Da People if the Dems play around.
Bear in mind that the government may shut down in a few months if there's no budget. Arnold needs to prepare the people NOW, with public statements and a statewide campaign, for this possibility, to make sure they understand that the blame is squarely the Democrats'.
I might otherwise hope that the process might make a conservative out of him.
The Kalifornia government may shut down in a few months even if there is a budget.
We took on $15 billion dollars in long term debt to make up for spending exceeding revenue over the course of about a year. There is no indication that spending has decreased and revenue is up only as a consequence of an improving economy. If the economy sags, Kalifornia will feel it hard and fast.
lol... He's probably pissed he won't be able to go to the Rat convention w/Maria and see his old buddy, Hari-Kerry anointed... and hang w/Teddy.
I agree, it's about damn time. I want to see him visit ever Rat district this fall and campaign for their rapid demise.. (but I ain;t gonna hold my breath waiting for that to happen, but who knows?)
