I will say I don't find it shocking, I've seen this coming for quite some time. My daughter's generation (born 1980) and her brother's (born 1986) have broken the "you're a freak if you're not liberal" mold.

When someone asks what my daughter does for a living my answer with a big smile is, "She's a stay-at-home-mom and I'm so proud of her!"

Children absorb the values of their parents... liberals abort, conservatives don't. Thus children are disproportionately born to conservative families, and absorb conservative values at a higher rate than the older generation.

I have finally met all of this generation that is currently related to me and am happy to say this country will be in very good hands. They all have lots more sense than I had at the same age, and tend to be Christian and Conservative..

I'm a female boomer who has always worked, so it still surprises me when I meet young married men who are thrilled to live more simply so that their wife can stay home with the children. It seems that there are more and more young couples making this choice today, and I'm so glad to see it. Maybe the public education system will finally be able to spend some time on education and not have responsibility for all the failings of society and the family foisted upon them.

More evidence:
The Youth Group at our Church has increased it's rolls (and roles)!
The kids' wondrous works and fun activities are enriching. They share meaningful discussions on the big issues and decisions teens are facing. When surrounded by peers who are also trying to do the right thing, peer pressure can be a good thing.
The friendships they form with "Youth Groupies" are based in trust and respect. It's now becoming cool to be "with Jesus" as they say.

To parents of teens: Urge your kids to get involved with a faith-based youth group. The positive influence in my household is a joyous blessing.

"What is emerging," writes Hymowitz, "is a vital, optimistic, family-centered, entrepreneurial, and, yes, morally thoughtful, citizenry."

I believe this to be true, evidenced in my stepson and his friends. In his case, entreprenurial is an understatement.

I have two sons, ages 21 and 19. Both are registered Republicans, very pro GWB and supportive of the Iraq War. My oldest complains how he has to listen to his college teachers complain about the President and the Iraq War. He says he gets into arguments with his teachers over these issues. Most of there friends pretty much feel the same way as my sons do. I really think it was the horror of watching 9/11 that brought this about. Maybe there is hope for this country after all.

May this Mom boast for a moment? My 18 year old (born 1986) recently registered as a Republican and will vote for President Bush!!

This is also the product of 12 years of private religious education and he will attend a local University this Fall. I hope they don't screw up his mind! Louisiana Mom

I was born in 1983...and though I come from Bush country, I just do not see many young lefties like I should on a college campus. One of my friends is a thoughtful young woman who enjoys attacking feminists.

Gen X and Y is the most pro-life.

It should be noted that socially, they also support gay marriage more, however.

This really is some great news. I don't think though, that this is a partisan issue. Actually spending time raising your child seems to be an idea that's gaining ground on both sides of the political spectrum. The idea that both parents could work full days and then spend a just few hours with their kids - or maybe the weekends - is finally losing ground.

And that's great.

We're coming out of the only time I can think of in history that it was standard for children to not have an "anchor" in their early years. Someone who was there no matter what.

Even at points in history when mothers weren't willing/able to take care of their children, they were raised by a nanny, a tutor - a single individual who was there for a significant portion of their childhood. Now, you've got babysitters that may change periodically, teachers who change yearly, and parents who are only available a few hours a day. This leaves children with no one they can truly confide in - no one who actually *raised* them.

Basically I'm saying - it was a long time coming, and it's good to see it's finally here.

How many kids did previous generations want? If less than three....the Xer kids may overtake the boomer kids.

I am sending this off to a HS teacher who loves Reagan and says his generation (Gen-X) will turn America around.

The writer forgot to add the "Roe" effect. More children have been born into conservative homes than liberal homes in the past 30 years. The 1.3 million abortions every year have not been evenly divided into pregnancies of conservatives and liberals.

Liberals have reduced their own pool of new voters voluntarily.
