Chilling story and I too would have been in a "hair trigger" state. I have a flight coming up and would consider stepping aside if so many suspicious characters presented themselves. As protrayed by the author I believe they were other than musicians traveling to a gig.

The article said the guys were let go as they weren't on any 'no-fly' list or terrorist watch list. The sure as h-ll had better be on ALL the lists now! If not, it's only a matter of time before they pull something else off. This was a probe mission, no doubt about it. It might even have been a aborted strike by the sounds of it. The alphabet agencies better have these guys on the radar screen. If not, I would consider it dereliction.
I think that the best and safest way to handle being on a plane where something like this is happening is to voice out loud what your concerns are. So everybody else does not think that they are crazy. Something like, those guys keep bringing things into the bathroom and it scares me. What are we going to do?
