Or, maybe the goblins' operation calls for a backup plan of horror, in case a takeover cannot be completed. Hence, multiple devices for such contingencies.

It would seem so. I don't want to be an alarmist, but I cannot reconcile the reported behavior on this flight with legitimate activity by a group of musicians. If this band is connected to this incident, they need to pack quietly and leave.
