Slim-Fast Dumps Goldberg Over Bush Jabs
LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Slim-Fast diet drink company has dumped Whoopi Goldberg from its advertising because its executives were unhappy with remarks the comedian made at a recent political rally that mocked President Bush.
"We are disappointed by the manner in which Ms. Goldberg chose to express herself and sincerely regret that her recent remarks offended some of our consumers. Ads featuring Ms. Goldberg will no longer be on the air," Slim-Fast general manager Terry Olson said in a press release Wednesday.
Goldberg participated at a recent Democratic fund-raiser at Radio City Music Hall in New York, joining performers such as John Mellencamp, Jon Bon Jovi, Paul Newman, Meryl Streep, Jessica Lange and John Leguizamo.
At one point in a speech mocking the Bush administration, Goldberg used his surname as a sexual reference.
The event raised $7.5 million for the John Kerry-John Edwards presidential ticket. Both Kerry and Edwards attended, but neither commented about the jokes made by the celebrities toward Bush.
Goldberg's representatives did not immediately return a call for comment Wednesday.
Slim-Fast Foods is based in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Nor I, feel free to post it every day!
Funny, I saw the title and thought, "Since when was Jonah Goldberg a spokesman for Slimfast?"
Maybe this is his big chance!
She was a dirtbag before she did this and they STILL hired her as their REPRESENTATIVE!! Sorry....TOO LATE, Slim Fast.
That's a LIE!!! Kerry said that ALL the performers represnted the heart and soul of America!!!!
AP LIES!!
You Damn conservatives won't be happy until she is homeless again!!!!!..............I can't keep a straight face.
All this high-fiving! Something tells me this is going to blow up in our face.
I am still confused as to why Slim Fast would hire Whoopi in the first place.
I guess they were using reverse psychology...
I never get tired of it, either!
Wait until the screaming starts about censorship!
Nah!!!
That sure is the other shoe that's going to drop. How will the alphabets handle this? Haven't seen anything there yet.
The job is far from over. This is just a beginning of all valued citizens regaining our country and respect for the highest office in the world, The President. As I recall there was others at this fund raiser that require our attention. Liberal networks, lying newspapers, propagandist entertainers/filmmakers and all liberal propagandist groups need to be aware of our mission.
I never realized what a fan club Whoopie had here on FR. But y'all are certainly exposing yourselves.......
"All this high-fiving! Something tells me this is going to blow up in our face." Nah! Remember, we're those mean, nasty, little-old-man-and-lady-robbing, taking-food-from-the-poor-little-cheeldren Republicans anyway. She got what she deserved. Slim-Fast saw the bottom line.
It would have been different if she had toned down her remarks and not been so vulgar, I think.
My favorite line from another Freeper...
"Lose 200 lbs of ugly fat in a day! SlimFast really works!"
"exposing ourselves" ? How so?
Bottom line for me is, criticism is all fine and dandy, hate speech and vulgar language are not. She deserved to be let go.
This is my very favorite new line, I've noticed on FR.
OMG, WHAT IS THE MEDIA GOING TO SAY!
wring hands, wring hands, wring hands.
It's as if some of the loser media themselves are here to try to make themselves feel more important.
I'm sure they've all got their little pea brains together, trying to figure out a way to use it against Pres. Bush and conservatives.
I have no special animus toward WG, what she's done in the past. Some here act like posing naked covered with milk is somehow degenerate. I think it's funny.
I am thrilled at this development nonetheless. I do think her Bush, stay out of my Bush spiel is out of line, but most especially with Kerry right there smiling. This looks like all upside. Think of the subtext. Whoopi is winged out of SlimFast for stuff that she did right there in front of the Presidential candidate, and he did not have anything resembling a Sistah Souljah moment.
