I don't know about that.

It looks like (to me) that they heard the jet's engines get louder and louder. When they finally heard from their spotter on the roof that fighters were incoming, they had little choice but to run like hell. The reason they were running down the middle of the street might be because they thought that the jet was making a visual pass to inspect for possible civilian casualties before turning and opening fire on them. In other words, they might have thought that they had time to escape to their secondary hideout, but they were in error.

Again, this is just my strategic assumption.

Possible, though their movement didn't convey a great sense of urgency to me.

I suppose it's a moot point. They're ... ummmm ... how shall I put this??? ...
