The Home Detachment briefed me on the disaster area down there. It's worse now than it was when I left two MONTHS ago!

I have lost five limbs off of my big tree, in the front yard, over the last week. The latest one was falling on my car when the wind blew it over. Missed by a couple of feet! This was a particularly "fun" storm.

Yeesh! I thought the blows up HERE were bad. We had a lightning strike up here that killed a troop back last month - right near a Retrans site for a unit out in the bush.

Winds were clocked at 75-80 m.p.h., and I was watching a limb swing 20' in either direction. I thought for sure that I was gonna have a big limb fall on the house. However, the only one that fell was that one, and it was right as the wind started kicking up. Wierd, but sometimes wierd is good!!
