That's not how I interpreted her statement. Re-read her comment.
When presented with the memo from his wife recommending him for the job, Wilson said only that his wife was not the one who made the decision to send him to Niger. This cleared up the matter for anyone who had been under the impression Wilson was married to George Tenet.
I think she is saying the opposite. But I admit it is a confusing passage.
Tenet would have known. You don't go snooping around about nuke material without the top guy signing off. But I don't think anyone took the "mission" seriously at the time. Who could guess that it would influence a war and an election?
