Moore goes on to say that Townshend blocked his use of the classic song because he is "not a fan of Michael Moore's and in fact supports the war and supports Tony Blair and doesn't want the song used in any way that would make Blair look bad." Liar Liar...

The line "Who the f_ _ k are you?" belted out in Daltrey's voice (from Who Are You?) might be the appropriate response to Mr. Moore's attempts to foment controversy with another artist. Come to think of it, Fiddle About seems more in the territory of a Michael Moore anthem.

Townshend asserted in his post that he has nothing against Moore personally but resents being "slurred" by him in interviews "just because he didn't get what he wanted from me. Gosh, who would have thought that Moore would say bad things wbout someone, just because they disagreed?

"Last year," he said in the statement, "the Who asked me to do a documentary on their career. I was sorry I had to tell them that due to my need to finish 'Fahrenheit 9/11' I would not be able to make their film for them. ... I am sorry I wasn't able to do the Who documentary like they wanted me to, but this is certainly no way for Pete to show his anger, and frankly it is very embarrassing for him to behave in this manner, as he is the greatest rock star who ever lived."
Once again I really begin wonder about the blobs ability to tell the truth...
1st: Why would the WHO/Pete Townsend what an American (I use that term very loosely with moore)political fiction filmmaker to make a story of the who.
2nd: Why would more actually want to make a factual documentary when he has so much experience at creating his own.
3rd: Why would Townsend be mad just because moore turned him down I know that there are several legitimate rock documentarians that would love to do a story on the Who for free no less...
Once again I think jabba the liar has gotten caught in a lie again.

And what would be the point of a Who documentary when "The Kids Are Alright" is already the definitive Who movie?

My 14-year-old son has become a Who fan (he's hoarding all my CDs in his room) and was just watching this yesterday from a showing I taped off the Independent Film Channel.

wasn't townsend arrested on child porn charges last year?
i just got the original "tommy" re-mastered in 5.1 surround sound. It's worth a listen.
To: mastequilla
The audio quality on the 5.1 is terrific, but I wish Pete hadn't messed with the mix. I prefer the stereo mix, but it wasn't done from the original source tapes, just the original stereo master, and it doesn't sound as good.
There's just no pleasing some people!
BTW, I just bought Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road on DVD-A and its 5.1 mix is spectacular when compared with the original CD.
Cheers

I've been a diehard Whoey (and isn't that a lot of hooey!) since about 1970 and my kids, now grown, got it by osmosis.
Love your handle, Mr. Jim.
I can't wait for a 5.1 reissue of Quadrophenia!
Cheers

Michael Moore is the face and beliefs of all democrats.I never realized being a traitor and giving aid and comfort to the enemy was protected free speech?

My 18-year-old got into my old LP's a few years ago and became a fan of the Who, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple, Cream, and so on. He just couldn't believe ol' dad listened to cool music like that. He plays drums now and I think there may be a Keith Moon influence in his style. Or maybe I'd just like there to be.
To: gymbeau
"Who's Next" was one of the first albums I bought--I got it from the Columbia House record club along with Three Dog Night's "Suitable for Framing," Bob Dylan's "Greatest Hits Volume II," and Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Pendulum."
Sadly, I never saw them live with Moon, but I made it to shows in 1980 and 1982. My interest was renewed when I learned they were taking "Quadrophenia" on the road, which I saw them perform in 1996 and 1997. My 14-year-old, who has Asperger's Syndrome (an autistic spectrum disorder), started paying attention to the story in "Tommy" a few months ago because he can relate just a little bit, and now he's hooked on all things Who.

Ya know, Moore should see someone for his knee-jerk lying.
He's deranged, just like most liberals.
