I caught one "children killed with guns survey" back in college which included 40-year-olds on the grounds that at least one of their parents were still alive, therefore they were "children."

"Allesandro admitted that it was such motor images ... that drove him to murder eleven-year-old Maria"Of course. What else is he going to say -- that he takes personal responsibility for his actions? That millions of others view porn and they don't murder eleven-year-olds?
Just call this case the predecessor to the "Twinkie" defense.

And when you are out of power, your enemies will use their newly-found power to "ban pornography" to ban such things as the Bible and your political newsletter. You are so funny. The people who fight for legalization of all pornography are the SAME PEOPLE who fight to outlaw the Bible and all other religious thought from public discussion.

I took several statistics classes when I was at U of Michigan. The most important thing to look at when analyzing statistics is not the final numbers, but how those numbers were determined.
If a study includes Borders under the defintion of adult bookstore, you can pretty much ignore anything else the study has to say.

Jeeze Loo-eez. As if this (or any other similar thread) would make anybody change their minds on any of this. The bottom line is this...whether you call yourself a libertarian, or a conservative, or a liberal, or whatever, odds are that you will support laws that uphold standards of behavior based on YOUR own preferences. That's human nature. It's why we have conservatives who say the gov't should regulate porn and liberals who say gay marriage (or any marriage) is a state's rights issue. Both, on the surface, contradict what would normally be expected of one with those self-given labels. Only the Libertarians might be the most consistent (but then again, they're usually the most loopy. :) I'm the same way. I am anti-illegal drug and have said so before. I have no problem with the death penalty for drug dealers. If that seemingly contradicts other stances, well, yeah it does. Anyone can come up with their own reasons why some positions contradict others with ease. And it's debatable whether those reasons are valid to others.
People support laws that uphold things they like and suppress things they don't. That's pretty much it. SOme may jump in and say, "I don't! I'm consistent! I support this and that and I oppose this and that!" Well, fine. maybe so. But if we each search our positions on every issue, we'll probably find that we ALL have one or more isues, large or small, on which our opinions contradict themselves.
We're human.
"When you get down to it, there's only one basic human right. The right to do as you damn well please. And there's only one basic human responsibility...to take the consequences." --P.J. O'Rourke.

I recently heard a wise pastor say that pornography teaches young men to think of women as creatures with female bodies and male brains -- "always hot and ready"...
As a result, when these porn-trained young men get married, they think they "got a dud" wife because she cooks slowly, like a crockpot, rather than comes on instantly, like a microwave. Even more unexpected, she connects sex to other concerns, like physical and financial security, a pleasant home, etc.
These young men need to wake up, repent of their porn and the lies it teaches, and replace their warped view with a biblical understanding:
"Let your fountain be blessed, and rejoice in the wife of your youth, a lovely deer, a graceful doe. Let her breasts fill you at all times with delight; be intoxicated always in her love. [Proverbs 5:18-19]

15.3, not that you go there or anything. I prefer the selection, price, and ease of shopping online.
Funny thing about the Adult Bookstore I was referring to. It was in a storefront that housed 2 businesses. The adult bookstore comprised one half of the building. The other half, a Christian bookstore!

You are right. It is a symptom. Pornography is NOT the root cause of our societal decay.
What should also be emphasized is many "Christians" are addicted to pornography as well. Lack of discipline can cause all kinds of problems as well as lip service when it comes to devotion of the Judeo Christian God.

"BULLSH*T!! Every highway exit has a McDonalds. I don't see 3 porno shops at every highway exit. One every so often though." Well you should be able to verify the validity of this claim since it is referenced in the article. Facts are facts and this one should be easy to validate or discount.
Also, these "shops" are usually all clumped together in one section of town and you won't see them next to each and every McDonalds. At least thats the way it is where I live.

I was using the highway exit as an example.
There are 5 McDonalds in my area and not ONE porno shop.
According to his caculations we should have 15 porno shops in my area.
