A sure sign the Dems are going to cut and run. Save their energy for 2008 where they can start with a clean slate. They want the presidency, but they read the tea leaves in NC and no one democrat is willing to risk their political career until Iraq and the terrorist threats have been subdued and the economy is soaring.
I would find it very hard to imagine any kind of powrplay in the next two weeks, Hillary will plot and scheme and bide her time for 4 more years.

Yes, Katie has been treading steadily, slowly rightward so that maybe she can glimpse the political middle lately.
Methinks they know that as The Two Johns are exposed as way out Liberal, this election is over, and they dont want to get caught in the crossfire.

I think this year's convention is going to be worth watching. I don't think they are going to get their bump. The first day they have Carter, Kennedy, Gore, and Clinton, for example.
I'm not sure that Hillary didn't learn a lot from Wellstone's funeral. It probably cost them a Senate seat.

Exactly what I was thinking, Hatteras. The Dems want Bush around to clean the stables another 4 years, trounce the terrorists and pump up the economy.
Plus, I believe there's an enormous vein of schadenfreude in the media. They see Kerry might pull it off, they don't like Kerry, they quit helping him; they see Edwards getting the plum job of vice-president on his gossamer credentials, they resent him, they attack.
