Hmmm... So is this disclosure requirement a PA thing, or is it nationwide? Can some schmoe with a stethoscope suddenly decide that my smoking a pack a day makes me a risk on the roads?

(Well I'm sure I'd feel much worse if I weren't under such heavy sedation...)

She could suck a 16 oz beer for the whole day. Anyone's liver can get rid of that much a day and have plenty of time left to do everything else a liver needs to do. In fact it's about the amount that reduces your heart attack and stroke risk. It's probably better for you than being a teetotaller if you can indeed limit yourself to just one a day.

I once worked with a middle-aged guy who confided that he drank a quart of rum per day. He died relatively young, but I never saw him impaired. You can ruin your liver with alcohol without ever getting drunk. If you average more than a certain amount of consumption per day, you slowly chew up liver function. It can take a decade or even two to finish the job.

Woke up Sunday morning
With no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
And the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad
So I had one more for dessert....

Would you have driven knowing that you weren't fit to drive or did you have to wait till your license was taken? The disease I have is degenerative (Meniere's). The doc knew better than I where it was headed and, once he explained it to me, I gladly tendered my license until I recovered fully from a labyrinthectomy. As he put it: I wouldn't want you to hurt someone.
What I suspect with this moron is that he had his license yanked for the irregular heartbeat and not the beer.

But it is totally acceptable to run down pedestrians, as long as you don't have any alcohol in your system!

I for one am glad to find another poster on a conservative board willing to run roughshodd over another individual's personal liberty. Thanks for keeping me safe from this obvious threat of a person sitting at home consuming a few adult beverages!

I guess the 12 I drink just driving home from work would be a problem.

I for one am VERY GLAD this guy is off the roads.I'm very sorry that your personal experience with alcoholism has clouded your judgment this much. (Did you really mean to say ONE 16 oz. beer a day?)
To: mdittmar
"Certainly, cases like this could lead individuals to refrain from giving their doctors adequate information to treat them," Givens said.Could? I would never discuss my alcohol intake with a doctor again. (We apparently now need to have attorneys draft forms for our doctors to sign regarding what information they will release to authorities.)

Actor Paul Newman drank at least a case of Bud a day for years, I think until he turned 70.
