Word just broke that metro cops are at the Stardust looking into a suspected expolisve device at the Stardust here on the LV Strip.
I think they closed the strip from the Fremont to Sahara Ave.
More to come...

Las Vegas Strip Shutdown Near the Stardust
Metro Police have shutdown Las Vegas Blvd. between the Frontier and Convention Center Drive and the Stardust.
They are investigating a suspicious device in or around the row of adult information display boxes on the corner of Stardust Road and the Strip.
I have been waiting for this. I met about a year and a half ago with a few representatives of casinos about protecting their glazing. They didn't want to spend the money.
Some more info:
Suspicious package at the Stardust being invesitgated by Bomb Squad. Reported at around 1:30 PST.
The Strip is closed from The Stardust to the Frontier, not all the way up to Sahara.
Traffic being rerouted, which is why this is such big news for now.
Also the Stardust Hotel & Casino has NOT been evacuated.
I always park at the Frontier and go on foot, so this would have really screwed me up!
Don't know. It's at the street. Terrs would go inside the casino, no?

Las Vegas Boulevard Closed Down Due To Suspicious Device
Metro's bomb squad and other officers are on the scene of a suspicious device found near a magazine stand at the corner of Desert Inn and the Boulevard. Members of the bomb squad have been laying some sort of wire between the device and their base location. The 911 call came in this afternoon about 1:30. Watch News 3 at 4, 5 and 6 for the latest on this breaking story.
Traffic on the strip has been rerouted between the Stardust to the Frontier. Northbound traffic is being forced to make U-turns at the Frontier, and southbound traffic is being detoured onto Convention Center Drive, then Paradise. Traffic on Desert Inn, as it passes under Las Vegas Boulevard, is still flowing. Stardust drive is also closed.
Right now, no pedestrians are being allowed at the Frontier parking lot or the new Wynn Las Vegas parking garage.
only in Vegas. What the heck is an "adult information display box?" On second thought, forget it, I don't want to know.
Sorry, I always confuse the 'Fremont' with the 'Frontier.'
The Stip is closed from the Frontier to the Stardust. Nowhere near the Fremont, sorry!
I have the tv and radio on.
The world's "oldest profession" is legal there.
BTTT!
An AID Box is a small cabinet with flyers with info for calling up 'escorts.'
So that's what they call them. Those sidewalk dispensers for little newspapers with ads for whores and other sleazy carp.
ROFL!
Things are back to normal. Looks like a small radio in or under a bag. Everybody, lets party!
I will never ever be able to think of them in any term now but "sleazy carp". Thanks for the visual :)
How did word of this incident ever get out to the rest of us? I was promised that what happened in Vegas stays in Vegas.
You mean?
Was it a small beeber or beeber-like device?
