Great! Met you for the first time at the Reagan funeral procession on Pennsylvania Ave. Sean had Charles Barron on the radio show earlier and him-of-the-Dr.-Evil-outfits made a spew about black conservatives and republicans being hand puppets, etc. Sean played a few clips of Julian and Kweisi ranting and another guest (I forget his name) suggested that those two had the democrats' hand up their bum. If I may make a suggestion from an earlier post, sir; punch up the NAACP website and look over the responses to their poll concerning Prez Bush's declining their invitation to their little firing squad (http://www.naacp.org/polls/comment_results.php?action=results&poll_id=109). You will find the results most edifying, over half take the NAACP to task. This ruckus they've kicked up is having unexpected consequences. All the smart money insists that the democrats will still own the black vote this time around, but what with that and the ripples of Bill Cosby's actions I for one feel the winds of change blowing.
In the text of Julian Bond's latest convention speech he takes the President to task for his past addresses to the National Urban League. I hope he does so again this year but there are a good many more outspoken, conservative black organizations and individuals that could benefit from his attentions. I'm sure you can think of a few. If my opinion is worth anything I would put in a plug for them. Rather than grovel and pander before the usual suspects I am convinced Bush should launch a full-court press for the black vote by unabashedly appealing to the same values and issues we hold dear and boldly taking on the race hustlers through the bully pulpit, the speech, the press conference and the photo op; contrasting his approach to that of the statist shills at every opportunity. Our brothers and sisters need to know about the dynamic alternatives to the tired, hateful old crew of dinosaurs.
Here in Detroit this afternoon on the Mitch Albom show, being subbed by John McCullough, the topic of conversation was what would be the response to another terrorist attack leading up to the election?
A black man called in and went into a semi-rant extolling the positive way that Bush has handled this war and how the democrats have been trying to negate all of his positive results!
This was a native Detroit gentleman who obviously has his head in the right place! How about that? There is still hope in Michigan................
