Democrats get a Reagan for convention

"It's no shocker," said one Republican, who like many Republicans declined to speak derisively about Mr. Reagan's offspring. "What you've got here is one liberal Democrat speaking at a convention for two liberal Democrats."
The younger Mr. Reagan has been criticizing Mr. Bush for opposing public funding for stem-cell research, the planned topic for his convention speech. He also has publicly opposed Mr. Bush's handling of the war in Iraq and even -- apparently -- his religious faithfulness.
Giving a eulogy at the graveside service for his father, who died of complications from Alzheimer's disease, Mr. Reagan used the opportunity to take a thinly veiled shot at Mr. Bush on worldwide television.
Speaking of his father's religious faith, Mr. Reagan said, "He never made the fatal mistake of so many politicians by wearing his faith on his sleeve to gain political advantage."
In the aftermath, many speculated that he was referring to Mr. Bush -- who has made little effort to conceal his Christian guidance -- and Mr. Reagan has not tried dissuading anyone from concluding that.

I can understand why the media is orgasming. Somewhere up there with the Big Guy, the Gipper's enjoying how they're making fools of themselves.

Lets see, a dork with name recognition and credentials as a commentator for pooch shows, who paraded around in a tutu (pink?) verses a US Senator.

And the media plays up the lightweight.

Where does Ron go from here? Sat Nite Live?

I sure hope the reps have Michael Reagan speak in prime time. He would be great.

"They can have Zell Miller; we'll raise 'em one Ronald Reagan and we'll win the whole pot," said Brad Woodhouse, spokesman for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.

I would love to hear Zell Miller's response to this comment! To compare Zell Miller, someone who actually had a career of his own and achieved some legislative and public stature, with Ron P. Reagan, who has done virtually nothing to eke out a "career," and whose only work is exploiting his father's name....! It turns my stomach....
