I'll do what I can, but if they make it impossible for me to leave lower Manhattan, I'm not going to get all stressed out over it -- and I'm not walking miles to get to the Garden or elsewhere in midtown. I'll just do what I did during the big blackout last summer -- forget my plans and camp out on the outdoor deck, watching everyone walk across the Brooklyn Bridge. How far downtown are you? I've made the walk from the Village up to the convention center lots of times (I hate NY cabs, and the subways are a bigger pain in the ass than they're worth) LOL. My friends and I are going to bring enough dried jerky and dried food and water to last two days just to be on the safe side and bring a sweater and poncho just in case we get stuck in the city. You have any idea what to expect in terms of the transportation difficulties we're going to be facing by any chance? I always find it a good idea to get suggestions from a local when 'in rome' :)

And if things are so bad that I'd have to walk to get there, I'd prefer to stay home and not get beaten and/or tear-gassed. I'm a girl, and a somewhat small one at that, so I will NOT be trying to mix it up with the anarchists nor do I want to confront them.
