There's nothing stopping private firms from using their own monies. The reason why they ain't is because stem-cell research is unproven and costly. That's why the Left wants OUR money to be used for it.

Bush did not ban federal tax dollars from stem cell research. He put a ban on tax dollars funding new sources of embryonic stem cell. There is still stem cell research going in, including stem cell research with embryonic sources with government funds today.
