If I may offer a guideline for raising boys: train him to recognize his duty to God and country, to help other people at all times, and to be physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight; to be trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent; to be prepared "for just about anything"; and to do a good turn for someone else daily.
Boy Scouts taught me so much of what it means to be a decent man in this culture. I still try to live by the Boy Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan.
