I finally found a reference to tests of this process.

Chlorine dioxide is a powerful oxidizer, same as ozone. The anthrax spores will be oxidized to death. They will be bleached to death. Bleached the same as the sun bleaches cattle bones in the desert.

My guess is furnishings will be removed and destroyed because the powerful bleaching action will ruin all fabrics and plastics. Weaken them to brittleness, breaking and tearing at the slightest pressure.
