"I am convinced that the leftist rank an file are a lot brighter than the right."

Or is that merely the sound of goose-stepping you hear?

"Religious social conservatives scare the hell out of many many moderate Republicans because if they become the predominant voice in the party, the Republicans are doomed to lose nationally."

A) Have these so-called "religious social conservatives" -- (i.e., believers in the Founders' Judeo-Christian guided ethics) suddenly just materialized out of thin air?

B) Does the platform of retaining "God" as part and parcel of the heritage and tradition of the United States America "scare the hell out of many many moderate Republicans"?

C) Does promoting a "pro-life" platform "scare the hell out of many many moderate Republicans"?

D) Does maintaining "marriage ONLY between a MAN and WOMAN "scare the hell out of many many moderate Republicans"?

Would someone kindly explain to me just what the h*ll RINOism represents other than Democrats masquerading as Republicans and surrendering principle like a WWII frontline defended by France?

I am of the opposite opinion -- Should the defeatist-Neville Chamberlainian RINO contingent hijack the GOP and become THE "predominant voice in the party," the GOP is surely doomed.

Except of course that we no longer live in colonial times...as much as people want to return to some imagined great time we are in fact living in 2004 with all its realities...These are the things we MUST deal with now or end as a nation

That's amazing how you so completely missed the point. There's no reason to continue any of this, your blind.

I completely agree. You guys need to take a good, hard look at the potential damage caused by your criticisms here. The purpose of the convention is to GET BUSH ELECTED, not to reassure a bunch of ultra conservatives that the republican party supports your sometimes very narrow-minded ideas. When are you all going to realize that the responsibility of our government is not to tell us all how to live our lives, but to secure us on all levels so that we can live our own. I'm not saying that I agree with gay-marriage or abortion or anything else -- I'm just saying that those issues are a helluva lot less important right now than doing WHATEVER it takes to elect the ONE man in this country who can keep us secure. Wake up. Take a look at what's really important, and if you decide that you can't deal with the social policies, then get your butt out there in your own community and address it yourself. My president has more important things to worry about.
