There's a resort at the base of Arenal where visitors swim in pools of hot water coming from the base of the volcano. It's absolutely fabulous.

I imagine they've temporarily closed it during this eruption but it is an experience of a lifetime to be lying in one of the pools looking up at an active volcano in the middle of the rainforest.
