Loftus has been saying this for quite a while now.

True, his track record is spotty at best. But the show is interesting and once in a while, he comes up with something. Let's see where it goes.

actually, Loftus also is saying that he thinks Bush is waiting too long to pull the trigger on this (if indeed it materializes). I agree with that, if this is going to come out, it will look like a stunt if it comes out in late October.

Why would that slow them down? Why?

Haven't we seen again and again that the statements of last week don't matter?

For the most obvious example, everyone and his leftist uncle was agreeing with Klintoon in the late 1990's that we needed to take down Saddam because his WMD's posed a grave thread. Now only us right wing kooks pay any mind to these statements, as the leftists pile on Bush, for taking the exact same positions

It's week by week soap opera country out there. Whatever one can say that riles up the sheeple base. Nevermind that it's 180 degrees from the week before.

"Can't be a good day when we put our eggs in a basket of a report from Libya."

Probably a pretty true statement - I think we sometimes get to focused and allow ourselves into a "Dem premise" - that is "large stockpiles of WMD has to be found for Iraq to be a success or worth it" -

This is a false premise - whether Saddam had large stockpiles or not..is mute - The world is safer with him gone - He was a threat to the world - Al Qeade did not have WMD and they hit us hard on Sept 11th (they were still a threat without WMD....just like Saddam was) -

The fact is Saddam would not show his hand - he kept things hidden, etc - Through the leadership of GWB we acted!! - Under GWB we will not allow a gathering threat to grow strong, we will act to keep America safe - Period.

With that said, I myself am not giving much hope to this report of WMD link coming out in Sept -

It should come out as soon as possible. I don't understand the delay.

Perhaps after the Gorelicker Commision releases their report: "NO WMD"
then Bush will counter. My guess sometime in August. Should
be Fun!!

Actually, WMD would be very nice to find as it would silence critics who have, for now, the moral highground on the issue. I hate ceding the moral highground to them, but as of now, the perception is that they have the highground. Sickening.

It is really easier to beleive that Saddam got his WMD out of Iraq during the yearlong buildup to the war - the longest telegraphed punch in history. To think otherwise would mean to think that not only our CIA was wrong (and had been wrong for years) but UK Intel, Russian Intel, Isreali Intel, and others were very wrong too.

Not likely, but possible. But as I said, not likely.

What's disconcerting to me is the way the admin handled it - there was no need to press the WMD issue as the primary reason for military action. We all stuck up for the admin (rightly) and now are vulnerable to the conventional wisdom - probably wrong - is that there were no WMD.

The much more logical conclusion (which should be the conventional wisdom, I suppose) is that the WMD were moved or dismantled in the year-long 'rush' to war, which is laughable when you realize the whole so called 'rush' was over a year long.

Bush & co has really failed to communicate that as a logical and viable position. As it stands, it becomes a faint apologists lament. Not good enough.

And I know the media is 90%+ liberal/leftist and will do what it can to paint the admin in a bad light, but that's not important. The admin still has to communicate their message, and if old ways don't work it's incumbent on the admin to think up some new ways.

A liberal media is a reason for this confusion, but it certainly isn't an excuse. Our side really has to start kicking arse, taking names, and getting creative, rather than lament about how the deck is stacked against us.

If the deck is stacked against us, think up a new card game, and fast, so that the stacked deck is neutralized.

I like Dubya and will vote for him (there really is no choice) but his admin really has to learn to communicate better. This is their main falling, whether he looks befuddled at press conferences or just comes off as hiding the ball, he and his posse become increasingly difficult to defend.

She seems to have good sources. What is she saying?

She didn't mention any specific sources. She seemed to be echoing what Loftus said. She too, mentioned about a report coming from Libya in September, and how Iraq with its nuclear scientists were part of this Libya conspiracy.

Vague as she was, she DID qualify this Iraq/Libya thingy as the most important thing she said on the show and that it was something we will be hearing more about.

Finally the "Ali Sobree" that was mentioned by Loftus must be Naji Sabri Ahmad al-Hadithi

Interesting post.

then why didn't we go into Libya rather than Iraq?

From what I understand, the reason we found out about the operations in Libya was from documentation found in Iraq.

correct.

and the program in Libya is (was?) supposedly built within this huge mountain complex - its impenetrable by anything other then nuclear weapons.

If the timing seems "too convinient" then the information would, in the view of some, to fall prey to the conspiratorialists. Also remember how the last minute LATimes accusations against Schwartzenegger garnered him more votes than it lost him.

But a case can be made for the need to keep that info quiet until all parties could be tracked down and taken care of. Big difference between a paper trying to destroy one candidate in order to help an other, and a President countering the lies against himself with proof he was right and not misleading a country.

Way to go, I know they check in from time to to time and what we say does count almost everywhere. I'm going to print this thing out and save it, it's' the key as far as I am concerned.

If the "hollowed out mountain" and the scientists and potentially the uranium were all in Libya, then why didn't we go into Libya rather than Iraq?

Perhaps we've subjugated both.

there was no need to press the WMD issue as the primary reason for military action.

Not for President Bush but for Mr Blair. In all of that diplomatic song and dance that preceded the invasion Blair was the albatross round Bush's neck.

Yes, Blair did take a huge political risk and acted against the will of his party. He should be given credit for that but at the same time the US administration had to say and do things they probably wouldn't have wanted to if it hadn't been to protect Blair.
