Minnesota Refinery Fire
Location: St. Paul Park, MN
Jul 11, 2004
Fire broke out at the Marathon Ashland Petroleum Refinery in St. Paul Park just before 6 a.m. A company spokesperson says lightning struck an oil tank which ignited and in turn set off other fires. It took firefighters about three hours to battle the fire. No one was hurt. The refinery takes crude oil from Canada and the U.S. and turns it into products like gasoline, fuel oil, and jet fuel.

WEST DEPTFORD TWP. -- A five-alarm blaze broke out at the Sunoco Eagle Point oil refinery here Saturday afternoon, but was under control by early evening.
That is the 2 that I have seen listed.
There may be one more in Texas in the last couple days.
There was huge lightening this early morning and it woke all of us up. At one point, I think lightening hit across the street. The timing was consistent with the fire at the refinery. I believe that the fire happened the way it is being reported.
