Thanks V, we are ok where we are except for having to breathe the smoke and ash.
However, there are many in harms way this evening for any number of reasons. Let's say a thread prayer for them.
Although we did have a 4.0 on the San Andreas Fault this evening which always gives me the creeps. Always have to wonder if it's a foreshock. (about 15 miles from us)
Welcome back!!!!!
There was an M4.0 earthquake epicentered along the Southern San Andreas fault zone (Coachella Valley Segment) near Palm Springs, CA. This earthquake was preceded by a long period of unclamping along the Pacific and North American plate boundary.
Most important is that there was little change in the severity of unclamping that has been continuious since July 10, 2004. Please consider this a possible foreshock to an even larger seismic event, up to and including a major earthquake (KB Event) in the immediate future. I'll update this preliminary report ASAP
Southern California Intermediate Term QUAKE FORECAST: (4/01/2003 - 07/31/2003) Update: Intermediate Term Forecast is now extended until 07/31/2004
Seismic Warning for Inland Southern California and Baja: "MT Rises Above 17 Units; Could Mean an Earthquake (M6.5+) in Southern California."
-Rev.(October 4, 2003) This is an Alert for the Southern Segment of the San Andreas Fault Zone from the Western Mojave Desert to the Gulf of California. A strong (=>M6.5) earthquake in that area has a higher probability over the next several weeks, and especially both east and west of the Salton Sea area. MagnetoTelluric(MT), Piezomagnetic and Geomagnetic field anomalies have recently occurred which are related to stress changes at depth along three major strands of the San Andreas fault system. Foreshocks are occuring in the areas near Idyllwild/Anza/Borrego Springs/Ocotillo Wells (San Jacinto fault zone), Obsidian Butte (Brawley Seismic Zone), and Westmorland, CA http://www.geo-seismic-labs.org/GSL/scalert.htm
Prayers up! How are things this morning?
