I posted a link yesterday re: what could be important about Ft. Myers. This is pretty much all that was obvious about this particular town on the RC list. Maybe there's something else, but I don't know.

It's a National Guard site, which at the time the article was posted originally, 2003, it was stated that the NG from that site would be providing security for 7 AF bases in Florida, among other duties.

"The Fort Myers assembly members were among 700 Guard soldiers who left for duty across the state Sunday, officials said. Also reporting were the 146th Signal Battalion and the 161st Medical Battalion.

"The 3rd Battalion and the 146th Signal Battalion are part of Operation Noble Eagle, the military's homeland security mission. The 161st Medical Battalion is heading to an undisclosed location overseas...

"At Fort Stewart, the troops will be processed, trained and given their orders. The 3rd Battalion is being prepared to provide security at the seven Air Force bases in Florida. Most in the 265th Air Defense Artillery will be assigned to MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Tittle said."

Now that makes sense. I couldn't understand why RC would need "help" in Fort Myers.

Speaking of that RC list, I was surprised not to see any Ohio cities included.
