Trying to kill or capture Ayman Al Zawahiri as soon as possible translates to "before November". Simple enough for you?

"...his administration was implementing a plan to insure the public's confidence..."

I'm not convinced that the Bush administration's best course of action is to take out an insurance policy to ensure the public's confidence.

You've probably lurked around here for longer than the two weeks you've been registered, so you must know that posters are required to post the correct headline and author, eh Buck?

Correct headline:

PAKISTAN FOR BUSH.
July Surprise?
by John B. Judis, Spencer Ackerman & Massoud Ansari

Interesting that one of the only named sources is an ISI Lt. General, considering that the ISI is notorious for it's Al-Qaida sympathies and is probably behind the assasination attempts on Musharaff.

We're interested in why people like you would rather fight in the streets of your hometown than Iraq or Afghanistan.

From the article:

"This public pressure would be appropriate, even laudable, had it not been accompanied by an unseemly private insistence that the Pakistanis deliver these high-value targets (HVTs) before Americans go to the polls in November."

Hiram Buck, let me put it to you this way: do you have some problem with the capture of HVTs sooner rather than later? Why is it that Liberals, such as yourself, WANT it to take longer for HVTs to be killed or captured? Why is it that Liberals, such as yourself, WANT more and more Americans to die -- at least up until November 2nd? Is it, perhaps, because you want to use this as a political stick with which to beat the President of the United States? It is BECAUSE you Liberals ARE making a political issue out of this that the President feels he has to pressure to get some result not just sooner, but even BEFORE the election (if possible). Is there something WRONG with capturing Osama in July, August, September, or October ... rather than in Mid November or December????? Oh, yes ... from your perspective there WOULD be something wrong with it ... it would help to ensure the President of the United States RE-election.

I think it is a GOOD thing that President Bush is pushing to capture HVTs sooner rather than later. What I am amazed by is the seeming implication that you DON'T agree. You would rather -- for POLITICAL REASONS -- let the HVTs run free until AFTER November 2nd, no matter what kinds of death and destruction result. You disgust me.

I just checked my magic eight ball, and the answers were favorable. Bush has all three culprits locked away and will bring them out 2 days before the election. You can count on it, the magic eight ball knows all.

Only read what you posted. All I can say is that I hope the part I read is true. LOL!

I believe this article and conspiracy theory 100%.

Having declared this, I must postulate and you must give equivalence to my conspiracy theory that the Bill Clinton and the DNC has ordered the Palm Beach District Attorney to get Rush Limbaugh on trial and convicted for Dr. shopping and get him off the air before election day! If your crazy theory is valid, then so is mine. As the hippies always say, "everything is relative man!"

The media in general has been so lopsided for the past year trying to convince the American people Bush is either stupid, incompetent or an evil genius. They refuse to even attempt to investigate any negative story on Kerry. According to the media and the Dems everything Bush does is the most horrific thing done to the American people. Eventually you just tune them out.

This story aligns with everything the Liberals wish the public to believe and has been pushing for at least a year. If there were any real sources, besides "unnamed officials" it would help.

The problem is your trying to make people believe Bush is a stupid, evil, arrogant, hateful,do anything for money or power, even sending soldiers to die for their own gain type of guy and it conflicts with most Americans gut feeling of him.

Bush has been honest and straight his whole presidency and sticks to his guns and people know this. The liberals have cried wolf for so long why would we believe them even if this was a real wolf?

I suppose it is a false, misleading, and fiercely unpatriotic charge, no?

Here is the problem. It's an easy charge to make, and an easy one to believe, if you want to.

I work with a number of people who have been up and down the hills in the back corners of Afganistan. From every single account, they say that anyone who thinks finding Bin Laden should be easy needs to come on down and try for themselves.

The issue of terrain is all but insurmountable. In the higher areas helicopters just don't work, because the air is too thin. In the lower regions, the sheer size, complexity and ruggedness of the terrain makes it a breeze to hide in.

Many locals aren't helpful, either. Some have never heard of America, some are convinced we're the Russians coming back, some saw a flyer saying that American's murder 2 million Muslims a year, and have decided not to help us. The ones that are helpful are usually not useful.

Now, 'rumor has it' that he's in Pakistan. Which is even worse, because the Pakistanis don't want our military running around their lawless no mans land western frontier stirring up trouble. That does complicate things.

The Pakistanis aren't trustworthy. Their military and government agents often run their own agendas, making it impossible to know what they're really up to. The tribes of Waziristan and western Pakistan are half civilized, xenophobic, and rebellious. At least the Afghans can be paid off; these guys simply won't budge.

So, when we do catch the bin Hidin and company, barring any major, stunning intelligence breakthroughs that I wouldn't hold my breath over, it will be because of luck. If that doesn't sit well with you, I don't know what else to tell you. There are people in America we still can't find.
