Morons that listen to "Hip Hop" and (c)rap wouldn't know music if it bit them on the a$$
That said, as one of the Gen X vanguard (born Feb. '65), I see a lot of crap coming from all generations. A lot of crap passes for classic rock, just as it does for metal, "alternative" (which is really mainstream, doncha know?), and folk rock. But I seriously don't understand how someone could criticize Skynyrd's "Pronounced", then go home and jam anything by Godsmack, Nickelback, Saliva, Disturbed, or any other of the litany of bands played on today's rock stations. I mean really...we used to joke about "three chord wonder" bands, but hell, at least The Ramones jumbled up the order of those three chords (easily discernible verse, chorus and bridges, and maybe even a...gasp!...guitar solo every now and then!).
These days, it's the same three chords (if you're lucky), in the same order, through the whole song. Often it's simply an open E or a dropped D chord only, with some guitar riffing over top of that one, single, solitary chord. Such is the vomiting of the likes of Kid Suck, Limp Dic...uh, I mean Bizkit, White Zombie/Rob Zombie, etc.
Meanwhile, just as it's always been, the truly good bands get ignored while the posers, talentless tattooed and pierced weirdo freaks, and rappers get the promotions. While the industry promoted losers like Suck 182 and System Of A Down (haven't come up with an appropriate name for them yet), bands like Brother Cane and Caroline's Spine get largely ignored. The fact that (c)rap even exists while The Replacements and Hoodoogurus went unnoticed is just a total and complete shame.
Oh well, just had to unload. /rant
