I disagree. We do not need a calamity. Those who think that a terrorist act would bring this nation to its senses are not paying attention.

The democrats have spent two years griping that Bush hasn't spent enough on domestic security and first-responders, that the war in Iraq hasn't made us safer, etc. etc. This is so that when an attack occurs they can campaign on the "we told you so" platform. Probably quite a few Americans would listen to them.

My preference is the foiling of a terrorist attack in a very public manner, so that the terrorist threat is understood as a real danger, but that no one is hurt.

I also must say that it would not surprise me that domestic groups like PETA and ELF have thrown in their lot with Al Qaeda, and would launch a terror attack just to get Bush out of the White House. The democrats are stirring up all the weirdos in the country, and we live in a very dangerous time.

and we live in a very dangerous time.

We do agree on that.

I understand your points. I just believe that we are going to get nailed, and I'm not talking about just 3,000 people. What's going to happen when 50,000 or so get killed by a suitcase nuke.

The government officials must address the growing insane, irrational, and undeserved hatred for America around the world. Bush MUST come out and make a speech and tell the world all the great things this country has done for the world.

Remember that guy named Sinclair from Canada who wrote that great piece on the goodness of America? G.W. MUST come out and be forceful about the REAL goodness of America. This hatred must stop growing! If he doesn't speak up and make the point, then I guess he doesn't really believe it!

These are dangerous times alright!

First responders don't stop an attack. Intelligence does. What irritates me is that they think we're too stupid to figure that out.
