Indeed, he has been quite logical, although I wish he'd find another analogy rather than prostitution. But, that's just me.

Well, I was surprised that I was able to find a FReeper who is okay with 14 year-olds acting in pornography.

I think my point applies to less disturbing jobs, like sending kids into mines to reach ore in places where adults can't go (a common practice before child labor laws). Or using them to unclog textile machines since their hands could reach in (though, sometimes, the machines would take their hands off).

I was trying to use the kiddie porn and prostitution analogy to point out the craziness of the idea that kids should be allowed to work in any profession, so long as their parents approve. Sometimes, though, FReepers can really be off the deep end.

I know what you were trying to say. And there are a lot of off the wall FReepers, indeed.

Do you think the Federal Government has any charter by the Constitution to make and enforce such laws outside of federal districts and military reservations? I do not. The States do have such authority, and can be very harsh if that is their choice.

Moreover I'd gainsay that a state court could act on historically well-established violations of personal safety under general laws of reckless endangerment, without the states making all sorts of regulation.
