Good question. I don't know.
So let's switch to a different, but related, topic. For all the old movies and TV shows that should not be remade into new films, there are a few that make benefit from another try. Such is the 70's SI FI flick Logan's Run. A new version is shooting in Canada this year. If done right, it could be a real improvement.

With half the country purported to support Kerry, the producers must think there is a market out there ready to accept anything.

From the Simpsons' Stonecutter episode:
Who controls the British crown?
Who keeps the metric system down?
We do!
We do!
Who fixes the title fight?
Who rigs every Oscar night?
We do!
We do!
Who holds back the electric car?
Who makes Steve Guttenberg a star?. . .

It certainly couldn't get any worse :)

I just watched the movie a few days ago on cable TV. I saw it when it came out at a drive in theater. Hard to believe it was the big SI FI film one year before Star Wars.
It was a decent effort, though truly locked in a 70's time warp. I read a few things on line about the movie, including that the comic has deleted scenes in it that were cut from the movie.

Logan's Run remake? Cool! I watch that movie once every 5 years or so, and it gets cornier as I get older, but I still love it.

New ad for the movie....
Police Academy 8 will do to the term "comedy" what Fahrenheit 9/11 did to the term "documentary".
To: BigMacGOP
Well, we don't have to watch these endless, dumb remakes, but we do have to sit through the previews for them when we go to better movies. That's nearly as bad.

A new version is shooting in Canada this year. If done right, it could be a real improvement. Are they gonna shoot that one in a mall too?
