My Dad needs your prayers - and a card, if you could.
After successfully battling colon cancer 4 1/2 years ago - and 3 follow up surgeries to correct problems with his colostomy - he was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, with tumors on his spine and lung.
He started radiation treatments on one tumor but became too weak to get out of the house. We will be bringing in hospice care in a few days.
Your prayers for comfort are appreciated.
Why a card? My Dad is a collector of things. My local FReeper friends that have seen his house can attest to that. Pictures and cards are very meaningful to him. Computers and the Internet are not his cup glass of iced tea. If I printed this thread and presented it to him it wouldn't mean nearly as much as a card.
My Dad (Wilburn) is 80 years old and a widower. He served in the Pacific in WWII in the Navy Signal Corps.
Freepmail me for his address if you can send a card. I will reply as soon as I can.
Dad in the Pacific
Thank you and please know it is truly appreciated.
Thank you very, very much.
Eaker, you want to tell thackney he is way behind the curve?
Thanks again, guys.
What did your Dad think??
;<)
Thanks so, so much.
Dad switched pain medications just recently because of a building tolerance to what he was taking. He has been quite groggy and although he has seen the cards, he hasn't read them and understood who they are from.
As he adjusts to the new medication he will have more alert times - and he will have a wonderful surprise waiting for him.
prayer bump
I put a card to your dad in the mail today. I hope by the time it arrives he is more alert & can see it.
Thanks!
I'm sure as he adjust to the new medication he will have some good alert times to read all the cards. Thanks again!
I got it Flyer, thanks.
Well hopefully with the new pain meds he'll have some relief!! Bless his heart... y'all are in our prayers!
Pam
I Will be honored to send your dad a card.
My prayers are with you and your family...
Thanks, AV. Please know it's appreciated.
Wonderful! It did my heart good to be able to do this small thing. You and your Dad remain in my prayers.
Update: Dad had to go to the hospital to be treated for a urinary tract infection. The Hospice folks we had arranged to use met us there to do an evaluation and some paper work. That's when I learned Dad has decided to go through with radiation and chemotherapy.
I like to think it is your prayers and concern that has given him the will to fight this.
Thank you all very, very much
p.s. There are 2 - 3 cards that I am not sure who they are from. If I can re-read my mail and figure it out I'll let you know your card arrived.
MY bad...your dad's card is still in the car...hanging head in shame...
Hey, there are still many to come - this will be a week long event. Thanks again AV!
Glad to hear this news about your dad. I signed my card Ditter & gave my e-mail address.
