Prayer request for my Dad
Self | Thursday, July 8, 2004 | Flyer

Posted on 07/08/2004 4:39:16 AM PDT by Flyer

My Dad needs your prayers - and a card, if you could.

After successfully battling colon cancer 4 1/2 years ago - and 3 follow up surgeries to correct problems with his colostomy - he was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer, with tumors on his spine and lung.

He started radiation treatments on one tumor but became too weak to get out of the house. We will be bringing in hospice care in a few days.

Your prayers for comfort are appreciated.

Why a card? My Dad is a collector of things. My local FReeper friends that have seen his house can attest to that. Pictures and cards are very meaningful to him. Computers and the Internet are not his cup glass of iced tea. If I printed this thread and presented it to him it wouldn't mean nearly as much as a card.

My Dad (Wilburn) is 80 years old and a widower. He served in the Pacific in WWII in the Navy Signal Corps.

Freepmail me for his address if you can send a card. I will reply as soon as I can.

Sorry to hear. Dad is 78 and a WWII Navy vet who was also in the signal corps. His heart if failing and I expect the phone call any time now. I understand. Freepmail me with your dad's last name and let me see if dad may have known him.

I will pray for your Dad.

My Dad was in the Army, and quite ironically I have a picture of him in a Grass Skirt too.

Congratulations also to you and your new bride.

Thank you very much.

Congratulations also to you and your new bride

As much as I would like to find a nice gal to settle down with, you have me confused with some other lucky guy. Maybe a prayer could help that, too.

Thank you for sharing your Dad with me. He sounds like my Daddy. I lift your Father up to the God who made him - and I'll make sure to lift you up as well.

The journey is long, but it leads to light, not darkness. Hold onto that hope when you are going throught the valleys...

May God give your father the strength and endurance to face his final task. May he give your family the faith to realize that your father now will move on to his greatest reward for the loyal service to God and Country.

Hug your father and tell him of all the great things he did and the little things that you remember him doing for you.

Hospice was great when my father died. I would always recommend that you let your father have his final days be at home surrounded by his family and friends and familiar things.

Good luck and God Bless
