If you have questions or concerns about The Times' journalistic standards and practices, or you believe we have made an error, you may contact:
Los Angeles Times Readers' Representative Office E-mail: readers.rep@latimes.com Telephone message line: (877) 554-4000
TOPICS: Foreign Affairs; News/Current Events; US: California; War on Terror
KEYWORDS: alissarubin; bias; bremer; error; iraq; media; newspaper; rubin
FALSE--Los Angeles Times, 07/04: "Bremer...left without even giving a final speech to [Iraq]--almost as if he were afraid to look in the eye the people he had ruled for more than a year." FALSE--Washington Post: "There was no farewell address to the Iraqi people." FACT--San Francisco Chronicle and others: Reporting Bremer's 06/28 address, broadcast on Al-Iraqia TV.
Alissa Rubin's replied to a blogger's e-mail correction, "I will gladly look at the material you have forwarded to me and if indeed I should have included a qualification I will discuss doing so WITH MY DESK." (Emphasis Mine.)
Call the LA Times if you have a beef with this.

"Journalists" think they are infallible. They get really indignant when someone points out their errors. Alissa need to be bitch-slapped by her "desk." (won't happen)

A little fact-checking is too much to do before getting an article in print.
