I just realized that may have sounded too accusatory and maybe I should back off for now. But the incident where the 4 Marine sniper unit was executed with clean shots to the head on a rooftop just seemed extremely odd to begin with. And with this apparent deserter, from the same 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, going "missing" at the same time... something's fishy.

I hate it when I am right.

I take your point. Funny thing, the Corps had him AOL until the banditos broadcast that they had him in custody and then the Corps changed his status to some kind of active duty (unaccounted for) thingie.

I'd sure as hell woulda liked to have been a fly on the wall looking over the shoulder of the company clerk when he made out the Daily Diary entry for that little transaction. Not exactly something that you could look up a ready reference in the ol' MCM (or PRAM, from my time) wouldit.

If this AWOL Marine is a Lebanese national and not a U.S. citizen then all he has to do is stay in Lebanon ... in time he'll be listed as a deserter ... but nothing more will come of it. Canadians serving in the U.S. military during the Vietnam era often returned to Canada and didn't report back to their unit. A few months would go by and the RCMP would pay them a visit and ask their intention ... if the individual said they weren't going back the RCMP would simply advise them they would be subject to arrest if they ever entered the U.S. again. The RCMP would report back to the inquiring U.S. agency, usually the FBI, informing them of the individuals intent.

When I was active duty, for the first 30 days you were considered "UA" (unauthorized absence). After 30 days it would be changed to "AWOL" (absent without leave).

Why wouldn't these terrorist kill him since he is considered an infidel to them. They kill their own people everyday for working for America. A Lebanese born, American Marine would be bonus points to them.

Pig's heads desecrate Muslim site

25-06-2004

By Ian Gerard

The Australian:

THE sight of pigs' heads impaled on wooden stakes greeted builders working on the construction of a Muslim prayer hall in Sydney's north yesterday morning.

Workers arrived shortly after 7am to find the four heads stuck on building pegs in front of the development.

Inside the hall, blood and offal and other body parts had been spread over three walls and the concrete floor.

The prayer hall, in the semi-rural suburb of Annangrove in Sydney's Hills District, is due to open in October after developers battled with residents and the local council to have it approved.

Labourer Adam Wade, one of the first at the site, said the building looked like the set of a Godfather movie.

"I think it's disgusting and deplorable, it's like walking into an office and finding a horse's head," he said.

Muslims are forbidden from eating or touching pigs or pig products under religious law.

Developer Abbas Aly, who could not enter the hall yesterday, said he was not surprised it had been vandalised. given the furore surrounding the site.

"It just highlights the lack of knowledge about the faith just to assume that because they did this we won't be able to use the building anymore," Mr Aly said.

The local council knocked back an application to build the prayer hall on the site in December 2002 after receiving more than 5000 objections from local residents.

However the NSW Land and Environment Court later reversed the decision on the grounds that the objections were not based on fact.

Mr Aly, whose family is from India, said construction of the prayer hall would go ahead despite the vandalism and local objections.

He said it was important for locals to realise the hall was not a mosque and would not hold large groups of people.

"There's about 40 other families in this area who come from the same sort of background and don't have anywhere close to go to," he said.

Mr Aly praised police for their help after the attack, saying officers helped builders clean up the mess.

Police said they had taken a number of items for forensic analysis and were talking to neighbours to see if anything was seen or heard in the area.

Hills Local Area Commander Superintendent Jim Hook said police would work with religious leaders to identify the vandals.

"Police will not tolerate attacks like this which are aimed to intimidate another section of the community," he said.

The NSW Muslim Council condemned the attack.

Michael Moore said he deleted his interview with Nick Berg out of sensitivity to his family. Fact is, by Moore's own acccount, the film was in the can before Berg's murder. So that was another Moore whopper. So why was the Berg interview omitted? Probably because, as reported, Berg was generally sympathetic toward US effort in Iraq.

Then the Marine Corps , assuming he's a deserter, will request (thru diplomatic channels) Lebanon turn him over to U.S. authorities at the embassy. Lebanon won't comply because he (the Marine) was born in Tripoli, Lebanon and will revert back to his Lebanese citizenship.

A Lebanese born, American Marine would be bonus points to them.

Or a useful asset if "turned" to the dark side.
Islamics are often pragmatic...if they could use him, they'd wouldn't hesitate.

Just reported on ABC radio New York. The US Embassy in Lebanon believes they've recieved a phone call from Hassoun. He requested to be picked up at a certain location in Lebanon. Embassy staff were quoted as saying they will be taking all precautions as they don't want to fall into a trap of some sort.

Conspiracy time: Is it possible this guy killed his Marine brothers to prove loyalty to Allah and the men who helped him escape the US military?

If he betrayed his brother Marines there will be plenty of volunteers for the firing squad.

Exactly right! Never mind the 20 years of hard labor; send him back to his post!

Well, it is already known he was "kidnapped" while driving to the Syrian border, and that this trip was not something he had been instructed to do by his superiors.
