This problem should never occur again, on one of the windows updates you installed, the structure of hidden folders within the Internet Explorer Temp folder and/or C:/temp was changed for security reasons. Once up and running again, there should never be another problem. Also as suggested erase the temp files through IE toolbar>Tools>Internet Options...>General Tab>Delete Temp files route.
