GERMANYS cannibal killer Armin Meiwes has given his approval to a film production company to bring his story to the big screen.
His Heart in My Brain is the working title of the film, which is being partly sponsored with public money. The state of North Rhine-Westphalia has agreed a £14,000 grant to director Rosa von Praunheim because it likes his films.
Meiwes, 42 - sentenced in January to eight and a half years for mutilating, killing and eating Jürgen Brandes, also 42, a computer programmer - still hopes that Hollywood is interested in his story. It is unclear if Meiwes will benefit financially from the German deal.
Meiwes, who met many people through the internet who said they wanted to be eaten, killed Brandes in his lonely farmhouse home near the city of Kassel nearly three years ago. He stored his flesh in parcels in his deep freeze and ate parts of him every day.
His trial was a journey through a sub-culture of cannibalism and homosexuality that experts say spans the globe.
Meiwes is waiting to hear when prosecutors will secure a new hearing about his sentence. They appealed because they said it was inadequate given that a man died at his hands.
Filming for His Heart in My Brain will begin in December in Berlin, taking in places where Brandes, who lived in the suburb of Spandau, frequented.
Mr von Praunheim said: "I wont be telling the exact story but one very similar. The theme of cannibalism has fascinated me for 20 years."
The Film Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia said it gave a grant to Mr von Praunheim "because his films are always worth it".
But the conservative politician Axel Wintermeyer said: "It will only serve as a monument to a perverse criminal."

If I lived in the state that was funding this, I'd be screaming about it. Just goes to show how far "Old Europe" is sinking these days, culturally.

Meiwes, 42 - sentenced in January to eight and a half years for mutilating, killing and eating Jürgen Brandes Okay so I'm curious, what do the Germans consider a serious crime? It appears that slaughtering 6 million Jews moved the bar pretty high.

I propose freeing this cannibal guy, with the proviso that he be allowed to live only in muslim-centric countries. That way I figure he can help reduce the local population, by EATING them, one by one. Give him carte blanche to pick and choose his victims, that would a gift to him! I think we'd all sleep better knowing he was doing his best, in controlling the spread of islam.

Hello-o? Do you even know, that his victim consented to his own death? The victim WANTED to be killed and eaten by Meiwes. He even tried to eat his own penis - but it wasn´t delicious, according to media reports. Can it be murder when the victim agrees to be killed?

Why wait for the sequel? See the original!
Cannibal, The Musical.
See Trey Parker and Matt Stones musical version of the story of Alferd Packer, the only man in the United States ever convicted of cannibalism (or so says the marketing info).

Just show "Silence of the Lambs" and get it over with. There is no need to make more films about people who eat people.
Does Germany even have a death penalty or are they "enlightened"?

Germany doesn't need NO STINKING death penalty. If you've been a bad boy...you go to prison, and you sit there...for a long time. The politic ans avoid the subject and the media doesn't have anything to complain about. The prisoners get medical attention and fresh underwear each day...and the victums...well...they were victums and there isn't much more to say. They have two guys from up in North Germany...from last year that killed two teenage girls. Caught them both, evidence was pure and absolute...but both will get life sentences. The public goes along with this...as does most of the other European countries too.
As for the cannibal story...its hard to put this guy up for the death sentence...because his victum actually volunteered. After the two met, went to the house and chatted, and had sex...the dimwit decided he wasn't going to do the death thing and the cannibal was nice enough to drive him back to the train station. But then at the station, while waiting, the victum kept talking to the cannibal, and decided to commit himself to the act. So they went back home and did the deed then. The video that the cops got, virtually confirms most of the situation. The crime is difficult to pursue because of the willing nature of the victum. And the funny thing is...the cannibal went back to the cannibal bulletin board online...and advertised himself again. And he had more people to apply for the victum job.
And the most fascinating fact, which the cops don't like discussing...is that they think there are 800 of these cannibal guys in Germany (the cannibal hinted at this and the people on the special bulletin board said the same). Think about that...800 of those little dudes walking around.
