Brit Hume reported that Kerry didn't want Edwards because he felt Edwards was too much of a newcomer and didn't deserve it. I believe the real reason is that if Kerry lost, he did not want to elevate Edwards into a spot where Edwards would defeat him for the nomination in 08!!
