When I signed up for the NG back in the eighties we had the option of 6 years active 2 years inactive or 3 years active 5 years inactive. You got a much better bonus for choosing the 6x2 option and so most of us did.

If your husband has been out for more than 5 years then there is practically no chance that he is part of the IRR. If he has been out for less than 2 years then the odds are he is part of it.
