Before everyone unloads against her I found this phrase to be key (potentially)

"she also condemned Second Circuit Judge Guido Calabresi for his recent remarks about President Bush. It will be her first vote against any of President Bush's judicial nominees".

What did this guy say about Bush that ticked her off?

Calabresi compared Bush to Hitler.

COMPARING BUSH TO HITLER NO LONGER CONFINED TO LOONIES

Federal appeals court Judge Guido Calabresi got in hot water the other day, or perhaps we should say, he will be in hot water if the mainstream press ever gets around to mentioning his outburst of June 19. Calabresi, former dean of the Yale Law School and a moderate liberal, became the 3,267th Democrat to compare George Bush to Adolf Hitler.

As Bush-is-Hitler rhetoric goes, the judge's effort was comparatively mild. He said Bush's rise to power was strikingly similar to the rise of Hitler and Mussolini, with the Supreme Court (in Gore v. Bush) illegitimately propelling him into a damaging presidency.

Holmes is who she's voting against
not Calabresi(a sitting judge who
bashed Bush in public, then said
he was sorry). She talked about
both, which might've confused you.

Your question about what Calabresi said already has been answered, but know this: Hutch ONLY is suddenly mentioning the over-a-week-old Calabresi dust-up NOW because she wants to use it as "cover" for her leftward lurch on Holmes. "See? I'm really conservative! Watch me condemn Calabresi! See??"
