Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) announces she is voting against the nomination of J. Leon Holmes to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas: In her remarks on the floor of the U.S. Senate, which are continuing as I type this, she also condemned Second Circuit Judge Guido Calabresi for his recent remarks about President Bush. It will be her first vote against any of President Bush's judicial nominees.

Kay Hutchison will have her senate seat as long as she wants it.She's behaving like she won't be seeking it again. I've been her supporter from day one--when she was a TV reporter in Houston. I don't much like her any more and know a lot of people who agree with me.

Hopefully, Carole Keeton Rylander Strayhorn (or whatever name she is using now) will run and she and Hutchison will knock each other out of the nomination. I'm still hoping Barton will run again.

I applaude your efforts, but you have to prioritize issues. I didn't say that other things didn't matter - what I said was that genocide has a higher priority.
It needs to be taken care of first, even at the expense of not concentrating on war, illegals, or porn.

Doesn't she realize how lucky she was that she didn't get aborted?

The hate crime bill was senseless. Perry is still a Democrat.

I have not forgotten that. She also said she would campaign for any woman in the Senate.

She is, unfortunately, my Senator. I can't stand her. She has always been wierd. Her staff is really pretty nasty.
To: freekitty
Oh yes, she is expert in not talking to any of the people she represents. Kind of like the disappearing Gov. Brisco.

why do you call abortion a women's issue. That makes as much sense as to call war a man's issue Ah, the seeds of great taglines!
"Calling abortion a women's issue is like calling war a men's issue!"

Senator Ken Armbrister (D): District 18
It was this piece of rat filth that introduced that legislation after all those anti-Bush, James Byrd dragging death infomercials during the 2000 campaign.
When I heard Perry was signing this garbage I saw it as a sleazy back-stabbing into Dubya's back.

After this vote I will not support her in *ANY* primary.
Time to find a protest candidate to run against her in the primary.

Thanky Meek. The vote was already over by the time I got here. KBH is taking a lot of undeserved critisism here IMO. I think the ACU states her credentials pretty well; she is a conservative......on most issues. While killing unborns is abhorrent to me, wimmins "rights" are a fact of modern political life. When more Americans wake up, Roe v. Wade will be overturned, and a woman's "right" to choose will become a non-issue again. Hopefully in my lifetime.

Democrats have assailed Mr. Holmes, a Catholic, for past religious writings on women's "subordinate" role in marriage and other subjects. Republicans accuse Democrats of being "anti-Catholic" and say Mr. Holmes is being targeted owing to his opposition to abortion.
The fight over the 17-month-old nomination has made some odd allies and enemies in the Senate.
Supporting Mr. Bush's nominee are Arkansas' two Democratic senators, Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor. Meanwhile, Republicans including Sen. Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania and Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchinson of Texas have refused to announce support for Mr. Holmes and have been accused by some conservatives of working to actually thwart him.
Mr. Specter, a senior member of the Judiciary Committee, has been criticized by conservatives for reportedly lobbying Sens. Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe, both Maine Republicans, and Sen. Lincoln Chaffee , Rhode Island Republican, to vote against Mr. Holmes.
It is Republican opponents rather than Democrats who have stalled Mr. Holmes' nomination since his hearing before the Judiciary Committee 15 months ago. RINO's the fifth column within the Republican Party.

Say Deacon, you said voting for pro-abortion Repugnicans was OK for Catholics. See your loverly babykilling Senator return the favor.

She voted "no" because of her disagreement with some things Holmes wrote about wives being subservient to their husbands.
I vote for Hutchison because she's better than the Democrats she runs against, who are also pro-abortion. One can do that, as a Catholic.
