Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) announces she is voting against the nomination of J. Leon Holmes

Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison (R-TX) announces she is voting against the nomination of J. Leon Holmes to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Arkansas: In her remarks on the floor of the U.S. Senate, which are continuing as I type this, she also condemned Second Circuit Judge Guido Calabresi for his recent remarks about President Bush. It will be her first vote against any of President Bush's judicial nominees.

I heard on Fox News a few minutes ago the the Judge was approved by a majority in the Senate. KBH did vote against his approval but the majority carried the day. Does anyone know how my RINO senior senator from Pennsylvania voted on the judge?

Question.... who would you replace Hutchison with?

Name someone that can win the primary should she decide to run again.... I personally think she will opt out but we'll see...

So you like her position on abortion and the NEA, and NEH? Those aren't liberal positions in your world?

I don't agree with her position on abortion or the NEA, but her conservative numbers are over 90%.

The only person who will always vote the way YOU want is YOU.

Kay Bailey usually votes the line but on some issues she's got her stance and will vote that way....

I'm amazed. Specter showed he still has some brains left.

Just a guess but I suspect Specter is looking to the committee position in 05 and doesn't want to tick off the leadership to the point of changing the rules....

I don't think anyone can unseat a sitting Senator barring some major scandal. I’d like to see her replaced by Tom DeLay or Joe Barton.

OK your right, I'll support Perry for governor. After all he is the guy who vetoed 58 bills two years ago BUT DOESN'T KNOW WHY! Yep that's my guy now.

I agree it's very hard to unseat a sitting senator.... I still think she may opt out..... I'm not sure who has the statewide appeal to win the primary at this stage... Several possibilities out there. DeLay has enhanced his position with the recent redistricting imo.....

Yeah but those ratings are just samplings. We can do much better than her. It's too bad the conservative vote split 11 years ago otherwise Barton would have that seat.

Barton's my congressman. He is just such a boring campaigner!

I'm not going to complain about a 90% ACU rating.

Perry is roling back the size of government. He is getting very little help from Dewhurst and having to fight Strayhorn. He and Tom Craddick are doing the best they can under the circumstances.

You two want to deal with this. Perry is a RINO of the worst sort, but I'm tired of dealing with it.

I agree about DeLay, the question was who I'd like. However, I believe Barton will run if Hutchison retires in 2006. Being one of only 100 Senators is powerful even if you are a new Senator, and not having to run every 2 years is very attractive and Barton doesn't like being in a constant campaign mode. But, you may be right.

I agree. Rick "Hate Crimes" Perry is a sorry a$$ Rino. When he came out for the so called "hate crimes" bill, I wrote and told him that I hoped the James Byrd family would vote for him because I damned sure wasn't.
I recieved back a letter mouthing stupid platitudes.
OTOH, Kay is at least a semi Rino herself but probably better than Perry.

I agree the hate crime crap was a bad move on his part and wrote him saying so. However, he is trying to get spending under controll and reduce the size of government. You never get a politician you agree with 100% of the time.
