That ticket could win the election but they won't win one southern state. These guys need to really be painted as the extreme liberals they are.
Edwards has an approval rating of 35% in his home state. Unless he and his running mate ditch their liberalism, they'll carry North Carolina on a cold day in hell.
Edwards will win North Carolina for Kerry the way Gore won Tennessee for himself in 2000.
But but but.. the ambulence chaser Edwards emptomizes the American dream.... came from a mill town in SC, moved to NC, chased some ambulences, made some money, ran for the Senate.... you'd think the people of North Carolina would love the liberal clymer.. whoops... he never showed up to vote either, just like Kerry... Nice move John, picking another unqualified John to be President..
Flush the Johns in '04.
Think Zel Miller would be of any help here?
Or... how about a write in campaign of NC citizens to the national media
"I have lived in NC for xxx years and I can tell you about John Edwards, he ...."
that sort of thing.

Only 7 points? Ouch. Edwards could conceivably switch the Mo in NC.
So before Edwards Kerry was 7 points ahead of Gore in NC? This is pretty disturbing news. How on earth can Kerry be doing better than Gore in a place like North Carolina? Edwards might give him enough of a bounce to make the state competitive.
ONly numbers that matter in NC -- Bush approval 55%, Edwards approval 35% -- The Johns are toast in NC.
I think Edwards can get NC close, but I can't see him putting into Kerry's column. However, if this tempts JFnK to divert time and resources to NC and away from other potentially more vulnerable states, it could be a big plus for W.
How could you confuse Bush and Gore twice in a single post?
Edwards will not deliver -- he's never here, so why should we expect him to suddenly start spending time in NC?
If Edwards gets the numbers close up through the Democratic Convention, they will merely drop back down when the GOP finally kicks into campaign mode. Right now, the Republicans are just maintaining. When they start to get aggressive, we may hear more dirt on Edwards than we ever hoped for.
In NC a SINate seat is a big deal, you gotta bring home the bacon which gooberboy didn't. But VP is more of a prestige thing, sort of like being named pres. of the kiwanis club.
If lurch and gooberboy get the nod in Boston I fear they could put NC in the dim column.
I'll believe it when I see it.
I think you've misread North Carolina about a bad as anyone could. Pretty boy ain't bringing it home for Kerry.
