If legal or illegal immigrants came here and worked as journalists or college professors at half the pay that American journalists or college professors receive, the intelligentsia would probably have no trouble seeing the fallacy in what they are saying. Has Dr. Sowell been inside a college of engineering lately? Foreign professors and teaching assistants form the bulk of the technical faculty at many public universities these days.

But they're not doing it at half the pay, are they? That was his point. The foreign professors and the like are not driving down wages. If they were, natives could not afford to work in the profession anymore, and would be rather upset about it. OK?
