Zell Miller is a patriot.
Zell Miller has more class and conscience than the remainder of the DemoRat party combined.
I just don't get "loving the party" for the people who were in it in the past. The "party" is nothing other than the collection of people who belong to it today, and the ideas they represent.
the party is also a set of guiding principles or basic tenets.
The left has literally been hijacked by each one of those sycophants that control dialogue of the Democratic party.
The leftists in the democRAT party today are no different, really, than what they were in the '20s and '30s when they started walking hand-in-hand with communists.
Well, look at it this way: America is the sum of all Americans, but it is also the Constitution as written by the Founders.
see what I mean?
Now there's a VP pick that would have an effect on Kerry's ticket. Zell is everything Kerry is not.
Why is he still a Democrat?
He's more Republican than many who wear that moniker
The reptiles message is getting accross all over America. My 92 yr. old aunt hates Laura Bush, saying she kooks like a broomstick is up her Ass. She Thought Clintons appearance on Larry King was wonderful. I told her "I don't want to talk to you about the Truth, because you are blind to it", This is going on all over this country. Its scary! Its almost diabolical! My God, this fool can win. God help us!
I would vote for Zell Miller he is a well informed and honest man.
Given the vitriol and hatred from the Left, combined with the lack of clear and rational thinking on the part of many Americans, there is always that distinct possibility. I pray your aunt (and mine) can't make it to the polls that day, or fails to mail in her ballot.
If Truman were a Democrat of today, where would the "Buck" have stopped now?
Then, would we be speaking Japanese today?
Zell is right, the DemoRats of today, do not represent the Democrat's of yesterday.
I see what you're saying, and it's true in theory, but in practice, it's today's people who make the difference. On paper, we have the same Constitution that we've always had, but the Founders certainly wouldn't recognize today's government as what they "contracted" for.
Same with the "original principles," if any, of the Democrat Party. I don't like to be uncharitable about Zell Miller, but he sounds like he's letting sentimentality cloud his judgment.
Reminds me of something from '68, maybe '70 when I was still a student in NC. One of the most effective ads I can recall, long haired, biker type, joint hanging out his mouth and flipping the single digit salute on the billboard, with the script, "I didn't leave the Democrat Party, it left me." If I am remembering correctly, that was the year Jesse Helms was first elected, first Republican Senator from NC since reconstruction days.
abusus non tollit usum, et perversus ad virtutum non aequabilis est.
Many of the American people abuse the basic tenets of America, many of these people have strayed from virtue into perversion. This does not do away with the fact that the Constitution and the virtues behind it still exist and remain American.
